THE MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE
TOWN OF FRANKLIN COMMISSION ON AGING HELD
AT THE FRANKLIN SENIOR CENTER AT 12:30 PM
ON TUESDAY, THE 9TH DAY OF FEBRUARY, 2010
CALL TO ORDER: Chair Thomas Shakun called the meeting to order at 12:36 p.m. PRESENT: Members Margaret Ayer, Susan Dagenais, Charles Grant, April Griffin, and Lorraine Jencik.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Mrs. Griffin made a motion to approve the minutes of January 12th as presented. Mrs. Jencik seconded the motion. Motion carried. Grant made a motion to approve the minutes of September 8th as presented.
REPORT OF THE SENIOR CITIZEN PROGRAM COORDINATOR/MUNICIPAL AGENT FOR THE ELDERLY: Mrs. Griffin reported on February activities at the senior center. She also noted that that there were two new members to the senior citizen program in February. She reported that the furnace had malfunctioned but had been repaired.
REPORT OF THE MEAL SITE MANAGER: Mrs. Dagenais reported that 51 meals were served during the month of January.
REPORT ON THE ACCESS AGENCY HOUSING PROJECT: Mr. Shakun reported that the federal funding from the Department of Housing and Urban Development has been approved. The closing is scheduled to take place in February, and the groundbreaking in March.
OLD BUSINESS: BUDGET ISSUES: Monies need to be budgeted for salads, soda, and pizza for the new monthly pizza lunch. Mrs. Griffin estimates the cost at between $2.50 to $3.0 per person. Mrs. Griffin picks up the pizzas from Pizzeria 32. BUILDING ISSUES: Mrs. Griffin’s husband will replace the stained ceiling tiles in the spring.
NEW BUSINESS: NEW PROGRAMS: Mrs. Griffin plans on inviting Henry Eager to discuss his career as a well-driller. Other possible presenters have been suggested and Ms. Griffin will make contact with them.
ADJOURNMENT: Mr. Grant made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Mrs. Jencik seconded the motion. Motion carried The meeting adjourned at 12:55 p.m.
